This series made me wonder why we can’t get an ongoing for Hawkgirl (hell, she doesn’t even exist anymore) while Hawkman gets to keep having new origins with new series every couple of years. I like JLU Shayera as a character way more than Hawkman!

Ok, Carter can be entertaining, especially around Ollie, but there’s only so much they can do with ‘perpetually angry conservative who likes to hit stuff with a mace.’ Not enough intellectual stuff that comes into his stories for a guy who is a top archaeologist and should have the collected wisdom and experience of about a hundred lives by now… JLU Shayera, on the other hand, was a tough warrior with a great personality and who showed a great deal of compassion and conflicted emotions. She was John Stewart’s love interest and practically a big sister to Wally, not to mention a surprisingly decent relationship with Batman. In a time when everyone’s complaining about the lack of decent female characters at DC, I’d rather have her than Carter.
